Smash Burgers
Prep time: 20 minutes | Cook time: 15 minutes
While these aren't the exact burgers we sell at the local farmer's market, this recipe will bring you quite close!
Ingredients:
-
1 lb. 80/20 ground beef
-
2 Tbsp. Ike's Ranch Signature Seasoning, plus 1 additional Tbsp.
-
1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
-
Preferred burger toppings (we like thick-cut tomato, red onion, and fresh bibb lettuce)
-
1 Tbsp. butter (for burger buns)
-
Burger buns
-
Oil (for pan and spatula)
Directions:
-
Combine 80/20 ground beef with 2 Tbsp. of Ike's Ranch Signature Seasoning and 1 Tbsp. of Worcestershire sauce. Form into balls and refrigerate until ready
-
Preheat a cast iron pan over high heat (with a touch of oil)
-
Place beef balls on hot cast iron pan and sprinkle additional seasoning on each ball to your liking
-
Lightly oil your wide-edge spatula to prevent beef from sticking. Press down on the burgers with the spatula but be careful not to push all the way through. Cook for about 3-4 minutes or until the outer edges are no longer pink
-
In another pan, add 1 Tbsp. of butter and heat to medium-high. Place burger buns, burger side down, in pan and let sit for 2-to-3 minutes or until the buns are toasted to your liking.
-
Flip burger patties and let cook for approximately 3 minutes. Temp your burgers to at least 145 degrees prior to adding cheese
-
Add sliced cheese of your choice and cover pan with lid or foil to allow cheese to melt. Cook for an additional minute (burgers should now be temping at 155-160 degrees).
-
Remove buns from pan and swipe top-half with mayo. Add burger patties to the buns and stack red onion, tomato, and lettuce leaf.
-
Enjoy!
